Dear Friends of Alto Refugio
Coming to the end of the year 2017 we are filled with gratitude for all the opportunities and protection during all our activities. We know that David and Judith Schmidt (Founders of AR) are going through a difficult time and it is our wish that they don’t feel left alone in this time.
Highlights for us were:
– the Bible study groups continue. One man once said when entering Alto Refugio: “I don’t care if others say that Alto Refugio is a foundation. For me it is my congregation (my church).”
-For the first time we have worked together with Principios de Vida.
10 women have successfully finished the course „A woman after God’s own heart”. One participant shared in her testimony that through this course she had asked her husband for forgiveness and that they became reconciled.
Hospital visits: Patients as well as relatives of HIV patients are happy to receive our visits and help. Many time people, especially those coming from the countryside, are desperate and lost in the hospital system.
Every year it is a new challenge for us to trust that God will look after all the needs coming up in AR. GOD IS FAITHFUL. To mention one example: for four and a half years Hilagro has been providing bread for us. This door was closed to us after the bakery moved. Now God has opened another door.
Every day we are receiving enough bread from Casa Rica for our daily needs. Glory to God!
Challenges: We appreciate the help of all volunteers. Unfortunetly we only had a few this year. During the summer break we would be happy to have someone helping at our children’s corner.
–Taking time for the individual person on days when AR gets filled with people is another challenge for our team.
– God has given us a very capable team but it is a challenge to for us to be and stay united.
